Today’s game proceeded a lot like last week’s Dan Haren-Lance Lynn match-up … well, half of it, anyway. Lynn battled command troubles and an umpire whose zone he didn’t care for, and the Cubs’ bats ground him down so that he was out of the game early. Haren wasn’t great, though, battling his own issues, and the Cubs’ bullpen stepped up from there. Justin Grimm had a great inning, and Neil Ramirez even got in on the action, touching the mid-90s and pairing it with a nasty slider.
It was a huge win for the Cubs’ ever-so-faint division hopes, and, if they can win the next two, folks’ll do some dreaming.
