Statcast, MLB’s video-packaged product that utilizes in-stadium camera and radar tracking to tell us things about the game that we can’t otherwise define with our eyes, was put to good use in its debut season in 2015. What did that outfielder’s route actually look like? How hard did that shortstop actually throw the ball? How hard did that batter actually hit that ball? These were questions that technology can now answer, and we got a peek at the answers from time to time throughout the season.
To that end, Statcast put together a highlight package of Cubs moments throughout the season in 2015. It’s a fun excuse to look back on some highlights as we sit here in December, but also a reminder of random cool tidbits. My favorite was the 94.8mph cannon throw from Javy Baez.
