I hope everyone had a safe, happy, and healthy New Year’s Eve, and you’re recovering/resting today.
As we discussed earlier in the week, 2015 was just an insanely awesome year for the Chicago Cubs and Cubs fans. So awesome, in fact, that there’s virtually no way that 2016 can match the fun (absent a certain something happening at the end of the year).
[adinserter block=”1″]Maybe that’s an unfair statement. Maybe it’s more accurate to say that 2016 can’t match the same type of fun we had in 2015, but it could match the same amount. After all, whether it’s a surprise or not, seeing the Cubs win a game is a good time – and if they win a lot of games in 2016, which they very well should, fans should have many good times. I very much look forward to sharing it with you.
As of today, January 1, the first Chicago Cubs regular season game of the new year is 94 days away.
If that sounds too long for you, blame the leap year for adding an extra day of wait. You could also go with the 62 days until the first Spring Training game, if you wanted to shorten the window in which you are pining. Or how about (approximately) 48 days until pitchers and catchers report to Mesa?
I know. It still seems like a long time.
Maybe just watch some highlights here from the 2015 season to help you out. Here’s a package of MLB-wide highlights:
