It hasn’t been a particularly cold winter – or maybe that’s because I spent part of it in San Diego for work – but it has been a particularly annoying one. Freezing rain, iced streets, snow plows; it get’s old, fast.
But fear not! The first game of Spring Training is less than two months away and you can start buying your tickets as soon as this Saturday.
The Chicago Cubs have announced that the general sale for single game tickets to Cubs Spring Training games at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona, begins this Saturday, January 9, at 11 a.m. CST. Moreover, there is an online MasterCard Presale event that begins Friday, January 8 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. where you can buy tickets in advance – for a premium. If you use a MasterCard card (E.R. room, ATM machine), you can purchase tickets at a 15% premium, whereas any other form of payment is a 20% premium.
The Cubs open Spring Training away, against the Brewers, on Thursday, March 3, and then at home at Sloan Park against the Los Angeles Angels the very next day. You’ll recall that the Cubs will open the season against the Angels, so this will be a particularly tense matchup (full of players that will not make either team).
Brett already has his plans to be in Mesa from March 16-24, and I’m working on my arrangements, as well. So go buy some tickets this Saturday, and meet us in Arizona. I’ll buy you a ballpark treat.
Also of Spring Training note: the Cubs added a split squad, home game on March 7 against the Royals, which gives them 15 home dates right now.
