[Pre-Gamin’ posts serve as both your precursor to the day’s game, and your place for conversation about the game when it gets going. So, if and when you’re looking for a Game Thread on a given day, check out the Pre-Gamin’ post. There it shall be. These posts will be much more robust when the regular season gets underway, but, for the purposes of the Spring, they should give you what you need to know.]
The Cactus League home opener has arrived, as the Cubs bust open Sloan Park.
The Cubs dropped yesterday’s game against the Brewers, which is fine. Today, Pierce Johnson gets the start for the Cubs, which is notable for no other reason than he’s healthy here at the start of Spring Training, and it’ll be great to see him in action. Ditto for Neil Ramirez, who is scheduled to pitch today.
Yes, SEE them action – today’s game is available on MLB.tv, and I believe MLB Network in the Chicago area.
Also cool to see? Jason Heyward and Ben Zobrist in Cubs uniforms. They debut today.
Today’s lineup:
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Javy Baez, 1B
- Shane Victorino, DH
- Addison Russell, SS
- Tommy La Stella, 3B
- David Ross, C
- Juan Carlos Perez, LF
If you’re at the park, keep a lookout for Michael, who’ll be taking in the game in person. And follow him on Twitter:
