[adinserter block=”2″]We got to see Jason Heyward’s first homer with the Chicago Cubs earlier today, and that wouldn’t be complete without the other visuals from yesterday’s homer party.
Anthony Rizzo joined Heyward in blasting one at Salt River Fields, and his left the bat at an absurd and blistering 114 mph, and eyewitnesses said the ball went way, way out to center field. Statcast had the distance at 452 feet, according to Jon Heyman.
I can’t even imagine what such a rocket, deep, monster homer looks like.
Oh, wait – I don’t have to imagine!

The crowd’s reaction on the homer is almost subdued by the fact that the ball went so far they could barely track it. That’s my read, anyway.
But Rizzo and Heyward weren’t the only Cubs homers yesterday. In the game at Sloan Park, Addison Russell provided the only offense with a towering homer, his second of the spring:
