Hey look! Michael’s doing a Pre-Gamin’! That’s fun.
Today, the last place Chicago Cubs (1-5) will take on the fourth place Los Angeles Dodgers at 2:05 at the Cubs’ own Sloan Park.
Kyle Hendricks takes the mound for the second time this Spring. Were it the regular season, it might be a little more unnerving for him, as he’ll face Clayton Kershaw – consistently one of the best pitchers in baseball. But, since it’s early in Spring Training, each will be out of the game in short order.
Most seem to agree that Hendricks is pretty much locked into the starting rotation already, but I’m guessing there’s an outside shot that someone like Adam Warren could sneak in there with an unusually good Spring. Still, assuming health all around, it feels like it’s Hendricks’ spot to lose.
The game won’t be televised today – you can check which games will be televised here – but you can listen along at MLB.com, if you’re logged into your MLB.com account, or on the At Bat app.
Javy Baez gets yet another start at yet another position. The Cubs are clearly trying to get him as much exposure around the diamond and as many at bats as possible this Spring. So far, he’s made two starts in center, one at first base and now one at shortstop. #Versatility.
We’re also seeing Jorge Soler back in right after a few games out in left field. I’m guessing that, in order to work everyone in, he will see some time at both spots this season.
Today’s starting lineup:
- Javier Baez, SS
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Jorge Soler, RF
- Shane Victorino, DH
- David Ross, C
- Taylor Davis, 1B
- Juan Carlos Perez, CF
- Kristopher Negron, 2B
Starting Pitcher: Kyle Hendricks
