Chicago Cubs

I loved so many things about that game. Jake Arrieta probably wasn’t at his absolute best, but he was still periodically nasty and he hit one of the longest homers of the year.

Jorge Soler not only hit a tie-breaking homer in the 6th, but also put the ball in play (sac fly) with a runner on third in the 7th, giving the Cubs a breathing-room-inducing insurance run. Nice to see him have a good game.

Jason Heyward remains one of the best baserunners I’ve ever seen, brilliantly taking third on a Kris Bryant single to the left side that barely made it out of the infield. Then, Bryant added his own brilliant baserunning, tagging from first on that Soler sac fly, even though it wasn’t all that deep in right field (which allowed Bryant to later score).

Munenori Kawasaki made his Cubs debut and knocked a single to right and then stole second base.

Neil Ramirez made his season debut and was hitting 94mph on the gun and struck out two in a perfect 9th.
