The Cubs will try to win this four-game set in Arizona, which would be pretty awesome, especially considering what the Cubs have been though, and especially considering that the series was preceded by a two-game sweep in Anaheim. What a season-starting road trip this would be.
And it’s Jake Arrieta Day!
He’ll be opposed by a very good pitcher in Shelby Miller, though, like Zack Greinke before him, his debut in a Diamondbacks uniform (after the D-Backs paid handsomely for him, just like Greinke (though in prospects, not cash)) was disappointing. Greinke was much better the second time he started, and Miller probably will be, too. But the Cubs are, you know, good.
As for Arrieta, he’s coming off of a brilliant first start of the season, and will look to continue it against a good lineup in a good offensive ballpark. Cubs pitchers have generally had success so far this series in holding down the D-Backs.
Though, as I scan the D-Backs’ actually lineup for the day, it’s missing a couple regulars. So that’s nice.
