Pre-Gamin’: Cubs v. Reds (7:05 CT) – Lineup, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

wrigley outfield

The Chicago Cubs will look to extend their second three-game winning streak of the year to four tonight against the Cincinnati Reds.

John Lackey makes his Cubs Wrigley Field debut (so many debuts!) and will look to improve upon a less than stellar performance in Arizona last week.

Starting opposite him is Alfredo Simon who, as Luis pointed out on Twitter, is notably worse against lefties than righties in the last few years. With that said, it’s rather telling (and encouraging) to see Jorge Soler drawing the start in left, over, say working in Tommy La Stella (via Kris Bryant or Ben Zobrist moving to left field for the game). The Cubs are going to give Soler a good, full look in 2016, and that includes starts against pitchers that are relatively tougher on righties.

The Reds are shaking up their lineup a bit from Game 1, cycling out Zack Cozart, Devin Mesoraco and Adam Duvall in favor of Ivan Dejesus Jr, Tucker Barnhart and Scott Schebler. Also, the pitcher, Simon, is batting ninth (Brandon Finnegan batted eighth on Monday).

Game Info

Chicago Cubs (6-1) at Cincinnati Reds (5-2), 7:05 CT on CSN+, 670 The Score.
