It’s still so early in the year, and the Cubs have had so much early-season success, that I have trouble getting myself into my standard mindset for every series: just take two of three.
Actually, it only just now occurs to me that the Cubs’ first two series of the year were of the irregular two and four-game variety, and then the Cubs went into the final game of the Reds series with a chance to sweep, so maybe that’s why the “just take two of three” is not at all in my head. The Cubs haven’t yet had a game like today’s.
Jon Lester takes the mound for the Cubs as they try to take two of three from the Rockies. Javier Baez is getting another start, this time at shortstop, and Jason Heyward and Ben Zobrist – who sat yesterday – are back in the lineup to face righty Tyler Chatwood.
The 26-year-old righty was very good in 2013, but unfortunately had to go under the knife in 2014 for Tommy John surgery. He’s likely still in the process of working his way back to being 100%, so hopefully the Cubs can take advantage.[adinserter block=”1″]
