Pshh … off-days. It’s like, get real, am I right?!
The Cubs head back to Wrigley Field today for the start of a six game home stand. The first three come against the Milwaukee Brewers and here are the Cubs that that will take the field.
Chicago Cubs Lineup vs. Brewers (Jimmy Nelson):
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Jorge Soler, LF
Miguel Montero, CDavid Ross is now in, as Montero has been scratched.- Addison Russell, SS
- Kyle Hendricks, P
[adinserter block=”1″]For his career, Jimmy Nelson has been a lot worse against lefties (.362 wOBA) than he has been against righties (.276 wOBA). Even so, Jorge Soler draws the start in left field and Kris Bryant is back at third base. In fact, this has become the standard, vanilla lineup that all others seem to be working off of lately.
I was certain that Tommy La Stella was going to draw the start today, given his big game Sunday (2 2Bs, HR) and Nelson’s splits, but Soler’s overall ceiling and need to start regularly trumps those factors.
That’s probably the right call.
