Shall we try this again?
After rain washed out Jake Arrieta Day on Wednesday, the Cubs will try it again today.
Arrieta is following up on his second career no-hitter, now a full week in the past. Hopefully the extra rest did him good, and didn’t throw off his preparations. I wouldn’t bet on a no-hitter repeat anyway, because baseball history is long, and it’s happened only once. But I also wouldn’t bet against it, because, well, you don’t bet against anything that involves Arrieta unless someone says “I bet you Jake can’t buckle your knees with an intense glance.”
Taylor Jungmann (“there’s [still] a place you can go!”) has been awful this year, but isn’t quite as bad as his numbers thus far indicate (he’s had serious control issues, but also some bad luck). Still, in theory, he’s not a guy who should hold down the Cubs.
A win today, and we’ll call it a rain-shortened sweep for the Cubs.[adinserter block=”1″]
