Chicago Cubs

The Cubs are at Wrigley Field this weekend, and it’s going to be another cold series in Chicago.

They’re set to take on the last place Braves, and while baseball’s always gonna baseball, they do have a pretty favorable matchup, at least for today.

Let’s see what Joe Maddon is thinking for this Friday afternoon game against the Atlanta, sans Kris Bryant.

Chicago Cubs lineup v. Braves (Aaron Blair):

  1. Dexter Fowler, CF
  2. Jason Heyward, RF
  3. Ben Zobrist, 2B
  4. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  5. Jorge Soler, LF
  6. Javier Baez, 3B
  7. Addison Russell, SS
  8. David Ross, C
  9. Jon Lester, P

David Ross starts his third straight game for the Chicago Cubs, although this one was expected with Jon Lester on the mound. Fortunately, the Cubs/Brewers game was rained out on Wednesday, so Ross, 39, won’t have to start on three consecutive days. I would expect to see Tim Federowicz behind the plate tomorrow, with John Lackey pitching against the Braves.

Kris Bryant expectedly gets a day off after “mildly spraining his ankle,” while rounding third base in yesterday’s game. There’s no time table on his return yet, but the team doesn’t seem overly concerned. Taking his place on the field is Javier Baez who continues to be an absolutely crucial member of this team.

Jorge Soler gets back in the action with a start in left.

Look for the full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time.
