That is the line Dan Vogelbach has posted, so far, in Iowa this season. His strikeout rate is a little high, around 30%, but I suspect that will come down as Vogelbach continues to adjust. Other than the strikeouts, though, he’s been about as good as we could wish.
Yesterday he added to his season highlight reel with a sixth inning grand slam that put the Smokies ahead for a time.
It may not have been quite as majestic as his sign-breaking shot from last month, but a grand slam is a grand slam.
And you can watch the beautiful opposite field shot down at the end of this post.[adinserter block=”1″]
Triple A: Iowa Cubs
Iowa 8, Nashville 4
Vogelbach was the biggest highlight, but the starting pitcher had a pretty good day as well.
Double A: Tennessee Smokies
Mississippi 8, Tennessee 7
The Smokies rallied back from an early deficit, but couldn’t close out the game.
High A: Myrtle Beach Pelicans
Myrtle Beach 3, Winston-Salem 0
Zach Hedges has quietly been having a pretty good season.
Low A: South Bend Cubs
Wisconsin 4, South Bend 2
There were five total errors in this game; it certainly wasn’t the prettiest example of baseball.
