Back when the Cubs weren’t playing the Pirates and the Nationals in ten out of thirteen games, they had a nice “easy” stretch of baseball against the Milwaukee Brewers (11-17) and Atlanta Braves (7-20).
Those six games were scheduled from April 26 – May 1, but the Cubs were only able to get four of them in, with the middle game of each series being postponed due to inclement weather (that’s my five dollar way of saying it was a rain out).
Today, the Cubs announced the makeups for those games.
The postponed April 27 game against the Milwaukee Brewers will be made up on Tuesday, August 16 in everyone’s favorite event (well, except probably the players and the managers and the front office): a doubleheader at Wrigley Field! The actual makeup half of the doubleheader will be played at 12:20 p.m., and it will be followed by the regularly-scheduled (separate admission) contest against the Brewers at 7:05 p.m.[adinserter block=”1″]
If you had tickets to the original April 27 game, they will be honored for the first game at 12:20, but they will not be accepted for the regularly-scheduled 7:05 start. The gates at Wrigley will reopen approximately 1.5-2 hours after the conclusion of game one.
The postponed April 30 game against the Atlanta Braves will be made up on July 7, as the early rumors suggested.
Both teams had an off-day scheduled that evening, but now that off-day will be filled with baseball. In fact, the Braves will actually be in town to play the White Sox later that weekend, so they’ll start Thursday at Wrigley Field, before moving to U.S. Cellular Field for the rest of the weekend. The Cubs will start a three-game set in Pittsburgh the very next day.[adinserter block=”2″]
Thursday’s game will be played at 7:05 p.m. and no ticket exchange is necessary. Just like the Brewers make-up, your original tickets for the April 30 contest will be accepted at the gate, and the Ron Santo replica statue giveaway will be at that game (first 10,000 fans).
