The Cubs are facing a lefty today, which gives them an opportunity to get an extra righty in the lineup, and that righty is Jorge Soler:
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Jorge Soler, LF
- Addison Russell, SS
- Tim Federowicz, C
- Jason Hammel, P[adinserter block=”1″]
As we discussed this morning, Soler is not going to get regular starting opportunities right now, but hopefully he can do some damage (at the plate, not in the field) when he gets the chance in a match-up like this. The rub? Gonzalez is pretty split-neutral for his career, and has actually been pretty darn tough on righties this year.
Kris Bryant, then, starts at third base for the first time in over a week. He’s mostly been an outfielder since the outfield got banged up, since Javy Baez emerged as such a great option in the infield, and since Tommy La Stella started raking. Neither of those two are in the starting lineup today, though, so Bryant mans third.[adinserter block=”2″]
Addison Russell gets right back in there at shortstop after a breather yesterday.
