I still don’t think it’s going to become an everyday lineup, in large part because there are still at bats to be had for Jorge Soler and Tommy La Stella, and in part because other guys will need rest, but it’s hard not to see tonight’s alignment as the best the Cubs can put out there in a given game right now:
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Kris Bryant, LF
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Javy Baez, 3B
- Addison Russell, SS
- David Ross, C
- Jon Lester, P

Baez probably has a better overall glove at third base than Bryant, which is no knock on Bryant. And Bryant probably has a better glove in left field than the Cubs’ other realistic starting options there. So, then, if you’re going to have both bats in the lineup anyway, that’s probably where you want those two guys.
The rest of the lineup looks pretty regular, as Heyward will continue to work in the two-hole, and Fowler doesn’t miss any time after being hit by a pitch yesterday.
The full Pre-Gamin’ post will come closer to game time tonight.
