Walks are important. We want to see a lot of them on offense, and we don’t want to see Cubs’ pitchers giving them up (except to Bryce Harper, but that’s different). So let’s zero in on the current best performer among the teams in the Cubs’ farm system, the South Bend Cubs, and see how well you know your walks.
Today I’m looking for the hitter with the most walks on the South Bend roster, and the starting pitcher who has given up the fewest. Who do you think they are?
You’re probably going to need some extra help with this one.
The hitter is an infielder who did not make the Bleacher Nation Top 40 Prospects List, and he is also tied for the team lead in doubles. Incidentally, he shares a last name with one of the most famous characters created by George Bernard Shaw.[adinserter block=”1″]
For the starter, I’ll just give you the six players who have started for the SB Cubs this year. The candidates are: Steele, Kellogg, Morrison, Alzolay, Twomey, and Sands. This one should not come as a huge surprise.
Answers are down below. Good luck!
Triple A: Iowa Cubs
Iowa 6, Omaha 5
Once again, Ryan Williams pitched a very good game. He’s turned it on.
Double A: Tennessee Smokies
Tennessee 2, Mississippi 0
Four pitchers combined on this six hit shutout.
High A: Myrtle Beach Pelicans
Wilmington 6, Myrtle Beach 5 in eleven innings.
The Pelicans scoured four times across the eighth and ninth innings to tie it up.
Low A: South Bend Cubs
South Bend had the day off.
