The game was rained out yesterday, and it might yet be tonight as well, but the Cubs lineup is out and it looks equal parts familiar and formidable.
Let’s see what Joe Maddon has in store for tonight’s game against the San Diego Padres.

It’s familiar and it makes sense, but it’s funny how the order of the lineup goes 1. Outfield, 2. Infield, 3. Battery, isn’t it?
This lineup has begun to occur with a much greater frequency, lately. Of course, Tommy La Stella and Jorge Soler will still draw starts on occasion, but the defensive optimality of this particular arrangement will be pretty hard to pass up everyday – especially when Javy Baez is performing well at the plate, too.
Jon Lester takes the mound and will pitch to David Ross behind the plate. Ross has cooled off, after a hot offensive start (.133/.278/.200 in his last five games), but has still walked more (16.7%) than he’s struck out (11.1%) over that same stretch.
If the game actually gets played, the Cubs will look to make it eight in a row.
