Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Giants (6:15 CT) – Lineup, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

att park san francisco giantsThe Cubs pulled out a comfortable win last night behind Jake Arrieta’s awesomeness and a homer party, but, not unlike when you use magic in Westeros, it came at a price.

To that end, Ben Zobrist will be playing right field tonight in a tough place to play right field. My guess is he’s perfectly solid and steady out there, but the drop in range from Jason Heyward will, at times, be extremely noticeable (it would for just about anybody playing after Heyward).

Jon Lester starts for the Cubs tonight, and he really has been nearly as good as Arrieta all season long – you just wouldn’t know, because Arrieta’s shadow is so long (and has a great beard).

Matt Cain takes the ball for the Giants, as he somehow remains in the rotation despite being pretty consistently awful since 2013. It’s actually been a bit of a sad, rapid decline for a guy who was really fun to watch (well, against other teams) for a good long stretch.

The Giants are also resting a bunch of regulars tonight, so the match-up looks all the better for the Cubs. Of course, as we all well know, you can’t ever guarantee a win in this sport.
