Chicago Cubs Lineup: Looks Who’s Back!

Chicago Cubs

happy cubs old logoAfter fearing the worst – with good reason – Chicago Cubs fans can officially breathe a big sigh of relief (for today, anyway). Jason Heyward is back!

  1. Dexter Fowler, CF
  2. Jason Heyward, RF
  3. Kris Bryant, 3B
  4. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  5. Ben Zobrist, 2B
  6. Jorge Soler, LF
  7. Addison Russell, SS
  8. David Ross, C
  9. Jason Hammel, P

In the end, Heyward missed only three games (and, well, eight innings of another game), which is truly incredible. Of course, the Cubs lost all three of those games, so it was a painful three games. Which is not to say he would have, single-handedly, won any of those games. I’m just saying, it was a sad three games all around.

Now, Heyward is back, and if the gods of baseball want to make it all up to Cubs fans, he’ll have a breakout, dominating game, and the Cubs will win going away.

Jorge Soler sticks in the lineup, even after Heyward’s return, which was something we’d discussed in recent days. He’s looked a lot better – more comfortable at the plate and in left – over the past two weeks. Michael Wacha is not a huge split guy (he’s actually had a reverse split), so having a bunch of righties in the lineup is just fine.

Your full Pre-Gamin’ will come later tonight, closer to game time.
