It was a fun, albeit multi-time-rain-interrupted, day at the old ballpark today, as the Cubs got out to an early lead in the most enjoyable way possible: dingers. Kris Bryant hit a moonshot, Jorge Soler hit the Cubs’ longest blast of the year, and David Ross had a three-run homer that hit the new Nuveen sign.
That was enough for the Cubs, who got an excellent pitching performance from Jon Lester – the only runs he gave up (1) came following multiple errors, and (2) came after he’d departed the game.
The rain forced the Cubs to use a bunch of relievers for varying lengths (Pedro Strop, for example, threw exactly one pitch), which is a little annoying.[adinserter block=”1″]
