Pre-Gamin’: Dodgers at Cubs (4:05 CT) – Lineup, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

wrigley stands crowdOn a five-game winning streak, the Cubs will entertain a challenging four-game set this week against the Dodgers.

It begins today, as Alex Wood takes on Jason Hammel.

For his career, the lefty Wood has been much more susceptible to righties as lefties, but this season he’s seen an extreme reverse split (.380 wOBA against lefties, .268 against righties). The presumption here is that’s a small sample fluke, and the Cubs are operating under a similar presumption, loading the lineup with righties.

Dexter Fowler gets the day off, as he’s dealing with a sore right heel (Sahadev Sharma). It is apparently not a concern, and Fowler was due a day off at some point soon anyway. Still, it’ll be something to watch going forward.

Jason Heyward fills in for Fowler in center, and Ben Zobrist slides into right field (and the leadoff spot). That gets Javier Baez a start, which has been a rarity in recent days, it seems.
