Pre-Gamin’: Dodgers at Cubs (1:20 CT) – Lineup, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

wrigley stands crowdWhat did I tell ya? One winning streak ends, and (hopefully) another begins.

The Chicago Cubs took last night’s contest against the Dodgers 2-1 on the strength of a complete game from Jon Lester. The win last night ensures that the Cubs will not lose this series, but a win today will give them the advantage overall in this four-game set.

Kyle Hendricks takes the ball for the Cubs and he threw a complete game himself the last time out, although it took him only 104 pitches, so he should be feeling just fine. He comes into today’s game with fantastic statistics. He’s got an ERA under 3.00, a strikeout rate over 20.0% and a walk rate under 6%. There’s not much more you can ask for.

Opposing him is youngster Julio Urias, who is just 19 years old and is making the second start of his MLB career today Wrigley Field. Although his first one didn’t go too well (2.2 IP, 3ER, 5H, 4BB, 3K), I wouldn’t underestimate Urias. There’s a reason why he – again, at the age of 19 – is considered the top pitching prospect in baseball and is already making his Major League debut. Urias is a lefty, so Jorge Soler and Javy Baez are both in there, while Ben Zobrist takes the day off.

A win today will give the Cubs three straight series victories. Let’s see if they can pull it off.
