Chicago Cubs Homer Party: Heyward, Rizzo, Montero, Bryant

Anthony Rizzo’s shot (420 feet) was the longest of that quad, besting Montero’s by 10 feet. Jason Heyward’s homer looked a lot further than it was, apparently, coming in at 393 feet, according to the Home Run Tracker. Kris Bryant’s was the runt of the group, going a mere 367 feet to left.
… but it wasn’t exactly a cheapy, because it was the hardest hit homer of the day for the Cubs, at 107.6 mph, topping Rizzo’s rocket by 0.1 mph. Each of Heyward’s and Montero’s blasts were just under 100 mph.
For Heyward, the homer came as part of his most productive game of the year – he added a double and a single – and helped his slash line climb to .230/.323/.333 with an 82 wRC+. His rolling 15-game wRC+ is by far the highest it’s been all year right now, and he’s hitting .253/.336/.421 (107 wRC+) over the last month. In June, Heyward is hitting a lofty .278/.350/.556.
Meanwhile, Rizzo (143) and Bryant (140) saw their wRC+ climb to 11th and 13th in the NL, respectively.
Montero is now hitting .210/.339/.350, which, despite a perception that he’s really struggled offensively this year, is right around league average from the catcher spot (.245/.319/.379). It’s not good by Montero standards, but he’s not killing the team or anything. Given his back issue, it’s all fairly understandable. Hopefully as he feels better, the numbers continue to improve.
