Chicago Cubs Lineup: Coghlan Starts Again, Baez at Shortstop
The Cubs will try to win this series against the Braves with Jon Lester on the mound, following up on last night’s blowout win.
Chicago Cubs Lineup v. Atlanta Braves (John Gant):
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Chris Coghlan, LF
- Javy Baez, SS
- David Ross, C
- Jon Lester, P
Before getting into the lineup, feel free to check out the delivery of the Braves’ starter today. Hopefully he hasn’t changed a thing, and it’ll be completely delightful and ridiculous to watch. (Well, and also hopefully it doesn’t effectively distract the Cubs.)
Chris Coghlan gets another start in left field, and, although Albert Almora is special out there with the glove, I suspect the Cubs would mostly prefer to see a platoon develop out there while Jorge Soler is on the DL – that is to say, hopefully Coghlan hits righties very well, and hopefully Almora hits lefties very well (and also keeps playing his elite defense).
Addison Russell gets another day off, with Javy Baez covering shortstop.
