The Cubs head to Washington to face a very good Nationals team for three this week. Tonight, they get Max Scherzer, whom they beat at Wrigley Field back in May.

For Scherzer, he’ll face lefty, lefty, Bryant, lefty, lefty, lefty, lefty to start the game, which is notable because his splits are extremely extreme this year: .149/.167/.297 for righties, .276/.372/.526 for lefties. Those numbers are all kinds of eye-popping.
Here’s hoping the Cubs can take advantage of the favorable match-up in that regard – not too many teams can throw six lefty bats out there without sending out some “he’s not a starting caliber player, but he bats lefty, so ok whatever” types.
