Chicago Cubs Lineup: Lovely Lineup Loaded with Lefties

Chicago Cubs

happy cubs old logoThe Cubs head to Washington to face a very good Nationals team for three this week. Tonight, they get Max Scherzer, whom they beat at Wrigley Field back in May.

Chicago Cubs Lineup v. Washington Nationals (Max Scherzer):

  1. Dexter Fowler, CF
  2. Jason Heyward, RF
  3. Kris Bryant, 3B
  4. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  5. Ben Zobrist, 2B
  6. Chris Coghlan, LF
  7. Miguel Montero, C
  8. Addison Russell, SS
  9. Kyle Hendricks, P

For Scherzer, he’ll face lefty, lefty, Bryant, lefty, lefty, lefty, lefty to start the game, which is notable because his splits are extremely extreme this year: .149/.167/.297 for righties, .276/.372/.526 for lefties. Those numbers are all kinds of eye-popping.

Here’s hoping the Cubs can take advantage of the favorable match-up in that regard – not too many teams can throw six lefty bats out there without sending out some “he’s not a starting caliber player, but he bats lefty, so ok whatever” types.
