Chicago Cubs Lineup: Contreras at Catcher, Baez At Second; The Boys Are Back
It’s the second half and as @Cubs said, the boys are back in town!
The Cubs will host the first place Texas Rangers today (and throughout the weekend), as they look to start the second half out strong.
Kyle Hendricks takes the mound, and here’s the lineup that will stand behind him.
Chicago Cubs Lineup vs. Texas Rangers (Martin Perez):
- Ben Zobrist, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Willson Contreras, C
- Addison Russell, SS
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Javy Baez, 2B
- Albert Almora Jr., CF
- Kyle Hendricks
Although it’s mostly been the product of a series of injuries all throughout the lineup, Javy Baez has drawn an enormous amount of starts here in 2016. His ability to play all over the field undoubtedly helps that cause, but it is great to see and has certainly been one of the pleasant surprises of the season.
The other pleasant surprise of the season is the presence and production of catcher Willson Contreras. Contreras get’s yet another start behind the plate, and I think it will continue for anyone not named Jake Arrieta or Jon Lester – at least, for now. Jason Heyward sticks in the sixth spot.
We’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time.
