WATCH: Albert Almora Jr. Makes A Spectacular Diving Catch
The sky is blue, the grass is green, and Albert Almora Jr. makes amazing catches in center field. These are just a few of the universal truths of our world, and on Friday, the latter was confirmed.
With one out and one on in the top of the fourth inning, Rangers left fielder Ryan Rua hit a line drive out to right center field that looked like it would fall in for a hit. Little did he know, the Cubs have a human vacuum in center field, with the instincts of a cat, a glove full of glue, and hops like a … okay this is getting away from me just check it out:
Almora may not have needed to dive as dramatically as he ultimately did, but it certainly didn’t hurt and it made a really good play look even better. He must have forgotten how good his range was.
The immediate future is unclear for Almora, as Dexter Fowler is expected back shortly, but he’s made the most of his time with the big league club. At the plate, he’s slashing a just below average .274/.299/.446 (95 wRC+), but in the field he looks like a bona fide gold glover at one of the most difficult spots on the diamond.
At just 22 years old, this guy clearly has a bright future ahead of him.
