It was a hat-tipping kind of day, with Cole Hamels breezily dispatching the Cubs in an extremely quick one. The Cubs didn’t really even have many decent chances to score, with the best probably coming in the 7th inning after a couple hits to lead off the inning. That rally was scuttled immediately by a screaming Jason Heyward liner that Prince Fielder gloved and turned into a double play. Sometimes that happens.[adinserter block=”1″]
John Lackey was very solid today, and Clayton Richard, back from his fingernail/blister/working-on-things injury, pitched a clean inning. So those things were nice to see.
But it’s a loss today, even as the Cubs took the series.
