Game three of the Cubs/Mets series is well underway, and so far, things have looked good for the Cubs. In fact, things have looked so good that I wasn’t even able to publish a post with Anthony Rizzo’s first home run of the day, before he clobbered a second one.
Luckily, his turn isn’t up in the order for a few batters now, so I think we’ll finally have time to admire both of his long balls.
Here’s number 1:

That homer was Rizzo’s second of the series and 23rd of the season. It gave the Cubs a 3-0 lead and put him just behind Kris Bryant (25) for second most long balls on the Cubs. The blast, by the way, happened to be his longest recorded Statcast home run (451 feet), leaving the bat at 106.9 MPH:
What a shot! At 451 feet, this @ARizzo44 HR is the longest #Statcast ever recorded from him. https://t.co/NekLoTUjvN pic.twitter.com/3lnHXm5wir

But Rizzo wasn’t done yet. Two innings later, Rizzo stepped up to the plate after a Kris Bryant double and deposited another monster shot into the right field stands. You can watch video of Rizzo’s second blast here, but I’ll be sure to add it as soon as it becomes embeddable.
This is Rizzo's 11th career multi-homer game, and 2nd this season. Also did so April 24 at Cincinnati. #Cubs

That's 887 feet of home runs for Anthony Rizzo today.

That was Rizzo’s second homer of the day, third of the series, and 24th of the season. His total (24), while second most on his own ball club to Kris Bryant (25), is actually good for sole position of second most homers in the National League and fifth most homers in all of baseball.
