Addison Russell left today’s game after popping out in the 4th inning with what is being termed a “left heel contusion”, per the Cubs. It apparently started yesterday:

A heel bruise is far better than what a worst case scenario could have been, obviously, though it is not necessarily something that you can safely assume will not cost him any time. Stated less awkwardly: it’s possible he’ll miss a little time while it clears up. I am not a medical expert and I don’t have access to the specifics of the injury, of course, but it doesn’t sound like a long-term thing.
Javy Baez replaced Russell at shortstop. That is a nice reminder that the Cubs have an excellent backup plan if Russell misses time, but, then, Baez being locked in at shortstop means Baez is not available to move around elsewhere.
