You folks are incredible!
Earlier this week, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish, we passed the $15,000 mark in support of their mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. That alone makes it all worthwhile.
But you’re getting a little something out of the deal, too, because I promised to blog for a number of consecutive hours at the Trade Deadline on July 31 and August 1, depending on how much we raise.
With that $15,000 raised, you’ve maxed out my offer of 39 hours straight at the Trade Deadline, starting this Sunday. Get ready.
As a special bonus this year, I’ll be doing the Blogathon from Chicago, right near Wrigley Field!
I’m thinking that the way it’s going to work is, throughout the 39 hours, I will be blogging live from a spot in Wrigleyville for 20 minutes. Realistically, I know I can’t do it for the entirety of the 39 hours (most of the time, I’m gonna need to be at a home base to stay focused on the rapid-paced rumor/deal writing), but I’d like to do as many fun spots as I can – I’ll bring my folding chair, you bring the suggestions.
Right now, I’ll promise to do a minimum of 8 stops (I’m just spitballing what’s realistic, because this is a brand new idea!). If we are able to get over $18,000 in funds raised, though – the cost of sponsoring THREE full Wishes – I’ll bump that to a minimum of 12. If we really keep going on this fundraiser, maybe I’ll go even higher. So, if you haven’t given or are inspired to give a little more, go for it!
I can and will pick some locations myself, but what fun is that? If you have location suggestions for places in the Wrigleyville area where I can realistically set up shop for 20 minutes and write/record video/tweet/etc., PLEASE drop them in the comments.
