#BNBlogathon Check-In: Hour 10

Chicago Cubs

dusty sleeping blogathonI am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves), and on Snapchat – for 39 hours straight, until slightly past MLB’s August 1 non-waiver Trade Deadline, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS, etc.), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.

That was an eventful morning, eh?

News and Rumors Since the Last Check-In:

I got to those Cardinals and Yankees reliever trades, there are some rumors swirling that suggest outfield bat trades are coming, the Cubs lineup came out, the Cardinals lost, and it is starting to sound like Jonathan Lucroy will be traded to the Rangers.

Oh, also, Dodgers starter Bud Norris just left their game with an apparent injury, and Cardinals shortstop Aledmys Diaz got x-rays on his hand.

Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:

Duh, Cardinals losing. They’d managed to come back and tie it on a little league homer in the 8th inning, and it looked like it was going to be a patented Cardinals Voodoo Magic win … and then they themselves lost the game on a walk-off booted ball in the outfield:

Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:

Mum is the word right now.

Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:

Just 32 ounces of Coke Zero, with a splash of regular Coke. And lots of ice. And I chugged a water.

Where I’m Writing:

Lots of places in the last three hours, including the L, downtown, and at The Bean in Millennium Park:

Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:

Ben Zobrist’s walk-up song is playing on a loop in my head. And look, I think it’s cool that he has his wife’s song as his walk-up music, but can he use different sections from that song for each AB? Maybe different songs of hers? Change it up a bit, dude!
