I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves), and on Snapchat – for 39 hours straight, until slightly past MLB’s August 1 non-waiver Trade Deadline, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS, etc.), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.
I’d planned on this first update of the Blogathon coming at Hour 3 (I like to try and do these check-ins every three hours or so), but then this morning blew up with a very shocking trade.

News and Rumors Since the Last Check-In:
Well, there was no “last check-in,” but last night the Indians and Brewers got together on a still-pending Jonathan Lucroy trade, and then the stunner: the Indians are landing Andrew Miller from the Yankees.
Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:
Again, no “last check-in” just yet, but those Indians deals. Man. They are really going for it, and although the moves will shred their formerly loaded farm system, they do get Lucroy and Miller for more than just 2016. Look for the Indians to be very good next year, too. As it stands, they’re arguably the best team in the American League after these trades.[adinserter block=”1″]
Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:
We’ll see how the Cubs play things today and tomorrow. They’ve already addressed their biggest need in the bullpen, but they’ll keep checking in on the longer-term starter market, and also the outfield bat market (in case they can still put together a deal for a truly impactful type like Josh Reddick – on whom they are reportedly out).
Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:
Iced vanilla latte from Starbucks, because I’m awesome.
Where I’m Writing:
Belmont Harbor.

Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:
Am I going to have to change my shirt like 50 times throughout this Blogathon? It is not hot out yet, and I’m already so sweaty. Humidity, for the loss.
