Before tonight’s game, among other things, Joe Maddon offered some thoughts on whether anything was cooking in the trade market for the Cubs, and it sounds like if there is, he hasn’t heard:
Joe Maddon makes it sound like #Cubs will be quiet at trade deadline: "There's nothing going on as far as I know. Nothing. Crickets."

To be fair, Maddon probably wouldn’t come out and say there was something brewing even if he knew there was, but then, if he was aware of something, he probably wouldn’t have said it like this, either.
That is to say, I buy that Maddon is not aware of anything specific percolating for the Cubs right now. That doesn’t mean nothing can happen between now and the deadline tomorrow, but it shouldn’t be a surprise that the Cubs aren’t necessarily out there being as aggressive as other teams.
I’m sure that the front office is still in constant contact with other teams, though, since there’s no reason not to at least see what’s going on. The Cubs don’t have many obvious needs, but if there’s a longer-term, younger starter who can be nabbed? Cool. A lefty power bat to be had on a reasonable deal? Maybe.
We’ll keep on monitoring, whether the Cubs make a move, or whether it’s other teams of note out there altering their roster.
