#BNBlogathon Check-In: Hour 29

Chicago Cubs

dusty sleeping blogathonI am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves), and on Snapchat – for 39 hours straight, until slightly past MLB’s August 1 non-waiver Trade Deadline, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS, etc.), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.

I’m in a great mood, see the visual below.

Total Posts So Far:

News and Rumors Since the Last Check-In:

Much more on last nights’ crazy win, the Series Preview for the Marlins series this week, and … not a ton else. It’s quiet around the league, though it still remains highly likely that Jonathan Lucroy, Jay Bruce, and a pitcher or five will be moved before 3pm CT.

Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:

Once again, most is quiet on the western front. There are kinda-sorta some Chris Sale-Red Sox bits popping up from various sources, but it doesn’t sound terribly serious for now. That would be a fun one to watch, though.

Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:

Can I just speak broadly about the market as a whole? Clearly, some teams are playing chicken (and the waterfall effect is holding everyone else up), or there truly isn’t a lot going on behind the scenes. We know the trade market isn’t as robust this year as last year (when it was kind of insane), but still. This is really slow. Seems like one thing is going to pop, and then a bunch of stuff will follow in step.

Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:

Black coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts, thanks to my friend Ashley from Make-A-Wish Illinois (see below)!

Where I’m Writing:

Various spots around Wrigley, including, of course, the Marquee:

Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:

What if there are no trades? Literally none? Not possible, right? RIGHT?!?!?!?
