Emboldened perhaps by their near series win against the Cubs last night, the Mariners are looking to add, not subtract today:
Hearing #Mariners are closing in on a deal to get SS Zack Cozart from the Reds. Not done but both sides seem confident. Still fluid though.

Hear deal for Cozart could be a 2-for-2 swap with other three players being minor-leaguers. LHP Luiz Gohara seems a possible fit.

The Cubs-related impact here would be small, mostly related to the lessening of the Reds for 2016-17 (and the imbalanced schedule the Cubs and other NL Central teams play against them), but also the prospect-driven future that is augmented by the trade.
Still, at least it’s a trade that might finally come to fruition. And who knows whether this was holding up another deal out there? And then the floodgates open.
