Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 3, A’s 1 – August 7, 2016

That’s seven straight wins for the Cubs, and a second straight series sweep. What up.

Kyle Hendricks lowered his ERA today, which means he must have pitched really well, since he came into the thing at just 2.22. After 7.1 innings of three-hit, no-walk, one-run ball, Hendricks dropped his ERA to a season-low 2.17. He’s good.

Offensively, the Cubs left so many runs on the table for the second day in a row, but for the second day in a row, it didn’t matter thanks to the near-flawless pitching.

Kris Bryant and Jorge Soler went deep in this one, each of which was really good to see – Bryant had homered just once in the past month, and Soler was capping off a fantastic return to the big leagues this weekend.
