Yesterday, Jake Arrieta pitched eight scoreless innings against the Oakland A’s, the latest excellent outing in a bit of a turnaround for the Chicago Cubs’ ace.

Speaking as a father of children who would be completed awed by high-fiving Jake Arrieta, that dad’s reaction hit me just right. He was overjoyed by himself getting to high-five the Cy Young winner, but he was also clearly over-the-moon because he shared the moment with his son.
