Chicago Cubs Lineup: Jorge Soler Starts in Left Field
It’s just one game, but your first signal about left field in the post-Jorge-Soler-return world …
Chicago Cubs Lineup v. Los Angeles Angels (Jered Weaver):
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Jorge Soler, LF
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Addison Russell, SS
- Willson Contreras, C
- John Lackey, P
I like seeing Jorge Soler back in there, even as the Cubs switch back to NL rules, and even against a righty. He had a great weekend, he offers as much offensive upside as anyone else who could have been in there, and he’s a guy you’d love to see full establish himself as a regular. I still think we’ll see a rotation among several position players, but … well … I really just want to see Soler break out.
Of course, as we discussed yesterday, when Soler is in, that means a lot of other guys cannot be in (at least not without someone else sitting). That means, for example, Javy Baez sits today. I don’t love that, but, hey, I mean, look at the lineup. That’s a good lineup.
Willson Contreras gets another start behind the plate, and it seems like his reps back there are picking back up when Jon Lester and Jake Arrieta are not on the mound.
We’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time.
