Chicago Cubs Lineup: Zobrist Out to Left, Contreras Behind the Plate

Chicago Cubs

happy cubs old logoThe Cubs go for 12 in a row against rookie Luke Weaver. Well, not, like, 12 in a row against him, specifically. That would be pretty crazy.

Chicago Cubs Lineup vs. St. Louis Cardinals (Luke Weaver):

  1. Dexter Fowler, CF
  2. Kris Bryant, 3B
  3. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  4. Ben Zobrist, LF
  5. Addison Russell, SS
  6. Jason Heyward, RF
  7. Willson Contreras, C
  8. Javy Baez, 2B
  9. Kyle Hendricks, P

The regulars are all back in today after a breather for Dexter Fowler, Jason Heyward, and Ben Zobrist yesterday.

Interestingly, Zobrist heads out to left field for a rare start out that way – with Jorge Soler back, Chris Coghlan still around, and Willson Contreras playing almost every day, you won’t see Zobrist out in left too often.

Javy Baez stays at second, then, and I demand a crazy defensive play today. The homer was great yesterday and all, but where was the cartwheel or the behind-the-back catch or the snagging the ball in your pocket?

Contreras, in turn, heads back behind the plate, where he is increasingly drawing praise for his work with the starters.

We’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time.
