Another youngster opposes the Cubs, and Brock Stewart had his way with them yesterday, so I certainly won’t impugn Steven Brault. In fact, I’ll point out that, like Stewart, he comes into this start with only about 10.0 big league innings on the year, and, like Stewart, was a not-top-round draft pick only a few years ago. But here he is after a very successful minor league career. Unlike Stewart, Brault is a lefty, so maybe that’s where the difference will manifest itself. Well, you know, other than them being two entirely different human beings.
The Cubs go with plenty of righties in this one, and Addison Russell gets the night off. Javy Baez fills in at shortstop, undoubtedly ready to wow us with some kind of magical play – I’d bet heavily on that being more likely than another fundamental lapse out there.
We’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time.
