Imagine the exact opposite of last night’s crazy game, and you probably picture something that looks like tonight’s completely hum-drum, but thoroughly-enjoyable Cubs win.
With the bullpen burned, the Cubs needed a deep outing from Kyle Hendricks, and, unsurprisingly, they got it. Seven scoreless innings, almost completely unchallenged, and with nasty stuff. He even added a pick-off at first for good measure (and Miguel Montero threw Starling Marte out trying to steal for good measure (bonus Javy Baez tag, naturally)).[adinserter block=”1″][adinserter block=”10″]
Offensively, the Cubs got a two-run homer from Anthony Rizzo in the first inning, and that’s all they would need. With last night’s win actually finishing up after midnight, that’s two wins today for the Cubs!
