The Cubs have had the Pirates’ number all season, and a win tonight would solidify that.
But the Pirates won’t just roll over.
Remember, although they are mostly out of the divisional race, the Pirates are just 2.5 games back of the second wild card. These games do matter.
But as potentially more interesting aside, look who’s starting at second base!

That’s right Tommy La Stella has made his way back to Chicago, after a long, tumultuous break that nearly saw him leave the sport altogether. In the end, he took some time off, played a couple of games at Double-A, a few more at Triple-A, and has found his way back to the big league team here on August 31.
That date is important, however, because rosters aren’t set to expand until tomorrow. With La Stella now (clearly) on the 25-man roster, that means someone else must have been booted. The announcement should come soon, though, so stay posted.
Otherwise, Jorge Soler draws another start in left field, Jason Heyward moves up in the lineup, and Willson Contreras takes the start behind the plate.
We’ll have more on La Stella soon and a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time.
