The Cubs fortunately strung together a few hits in the third inning, otherwise they might not have had too much offense in this one. But the two runs they scored were enough to win thanks to a brilliant pitching performance and some fantastic defense.
Jon Lester carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning, but Hunter Pence is gonna Hunter Pence, and he ripped a solo homer to end the no-hitter and the shutout bid.[adinserter block=”1″][adinserter block=”10″]
Lester wound up giving up a couple more hits thereafter, but still. I blame Pence.
