The Cubs did not win yesterday, so there will be no clinching party today.
But they can whittle the Magic Number down to 1 with a win, so let’s see if they can do it.

We often like to talk about how unpredictable Joe Maddon’s daily lineups can be, but at this point in the season, things are actually pretty consistent. The Jon Lester lineup above, for example, seems to be fairly identical every five days.
Javy Baez covers third base, Kris Bryant bumps out to left field, David Ross is behind the plate (and batting eighth) and Jason Heyward is out in right field. It’s the defense-first lineup, and it did well for Lester last time.
