What a tough couple of years it has been for Jorge Soler.
On a day that was supposed to be a “take-it-easy,” post-clinch celebration, Jorge Soler was removed from the game with what was first being called “right-thigh,” tightness, but has since been labeled “right-side,” tightness per multiple Twitter reports:
@CarrieMuskat Sorry, that's tightness in right side for Soler. #Cubs

Soler was removed from the game before the top of the fourth inning, when Willson Contreras moved out to left field and Miguel Montero came into catch.

Again, it’s a bummer for Soler, who has already missed roughly two months this season (and many more months in the past) with a nagging hamstring issue, but who has also looked very formidable in his time spent actually on the field.
Since returning from the disabled list on August 5, for example, Soler has slashed .278/.359/.556 with 7 home runs, including this rocket-shot homer last night.
According to Carrie Muskat on Twitter, Soler will be just day-to-day. So, with any luck, he was removed from the game out of an abundance of caution during a stretch where the wins and loses are nearly meaningless. The NLDS doesn’t begin until October 7, so Soler will have a little under three-weeks to make it back.
We’ll likely learn a bit more after the game – so stay posted for updates.
