There’s something about Chicago Cubs and multi-homer games in Cincinnati, eh?
What Ben Zobrist did last night won’t be remembered in the same breath as The Kyle Schwarber Game or Kris Bryant’s historic night against the Reds, but it was another two-homer game for a Cubs player at Great American Ballpark:

Zobrist added a double for good measure.
Neither Zobrist homer was a bomb, and they were nearly identical shots – 369 and 368 feet in the 98 to 102mph range to right field – but he did what you’d want him to do: worked long at bats, got a mistake, and wrecked it. Zobrist is not a classic slugger, but if you miss your spot, he can punish you.
That’s the guy the Cubs wanted when they signed Zobrist in the offseason, of course, and he’s been that in spades. He’s now hitting .273/.387/.443 on the year, with a 124 wRC+. That’s his highest mark since 2012, and his .387 OBP is his highest since 2009.
If he can be that guy in the playoffs? Awesome. And why wouldn’t he, right? This guy has been tremendously, consistently solid for so long.
